Jacket And Shirt

A jacket is an upper-body garment that typically extends below the hips. A jacket is typically sleeveless and fastens in the front or on the rear. A jacket is typically thinner, more form-fitting, and less insulating than outerwear such as a hat. Some jackets are designed to be trendy, whereas others are designed to be protective. Vests are jackets without sleeves.

A shirt is a top-of-the-body fabric garment (from the neck to the waist). It has become a catch-all word for a wide range of upper-body garments and undergarments in American English. A shirt is a jacket with a collar, sleeves with cuffs, and a complete vertical opening with buttons or snaps in British English. A necktie may also be worn under the collar of a shirt.
